Play a friend 1v1. Host a table, send them the link, and they join from any browser. You set the rules & card sources; each of you builds a deck.
Opponent
Face a specific FFXIV Triple Triad NPC with their own deck and ruleset. Selecting one locks the pool to FFXIV and uses their rules; press New Game to build your deck.
My Decks
Build and save up to 5 decks (FFVIII, FFXIV, or both). Play one in free play, or load it when facing an opponent.
Rules
Basic is always active. Roulette rolls a random rule set and locks out the modifiers below. Changes take effect on the next new game.
Draft (FFXIV): build a deck of one card per star tier (★1–★5). Press New Game to draft.
Modifiers
Optional rules. Ascension/Descension need an FFXIV-only pool; Elemental needs an FF8-only pool — uncheck the other source under Card Pool to enable them. Take effect on the next new game.
Card Pool
Choose which sources and tiers the deck draws from. Changes take effect on the next new game.
Source
Tier (FF8) & Stars (FFXIV)
Low=★1-2, Mid=★3-4, High=★5. FFXIV decks allow at most two ★4/★5 cards (only one ★5).
How to Play
Each card has four values — Top, Right, Bottom, Left. When you place a card next to an opponent's card, if your touching edge value is higher than their opposing edge value, you flip their card to your color.
Example: Your card's Right value is 6, opponent's Left value is 4 → you flip it.
Your score counts the cards in your color on the board plus the card still in your hand, so it starts 5–5 and totals 10. Most cards after the board fills wins; equal is a draw. A value of A = 10.
Under Card Pool, choose the sources — Final Fantasy VIII and/or XIV. FF8 cards are filtered by tier (Low/Mid/High by level); FFXIV cards by star (★1–★5). Tiers pair as Low = ★1–2, Mid = ★3–4, High = ★5.
FFXIV decks follow the game's limit: at most two ★4/★5 cards, and only one ★5.
Found under Rules. At game start a random set of rules is rolled (and the modifiers you'd otherwise pick are locked out). The rolled rules show under the score.
Found under Rules (FFXIV only). Press New Game to open the draft, then pick one option per row to build a deck with one card of every star tier (★1–★5). The AI drafts the same tier spread, and Draft can be combined with Roulette.
Modifiers
Some modifiers need a single card source (noted below); incompatible options grey out automatically.
- Same
- place a card so two or more of its edges exactly match the opposing edges of adjacent cards, and all of those cards flip — regardless of which side is higher.
- Plus
- place a card so two or more sums of (your edge + the adjacent opposing edge) are equal, and all matching adjacent cards flip.
- Combo
- cards flipped by Same/Plus are treated as freshly placed, triggering Basic flips that can chain across the board. Turns on automatically whenever Same or Plus is on.
- Reverse
- lower numbers capture instead of higher. (Pairs with Fallen Ace — pick one.)
- Fallen Ace
- a 1 beats an A (and with Reverse, an A beats a 1). (Pairs with Reverse — pick one.)
- Ascension
- +1 to all sides for each same-type card already in play; a card joins that count once placed. Type (Primal/Scion/Beastman/Garlean) shows on the card. FFXIV pool only; excludes Descension & Elemental.
- Descension
- like Ascension but −1 per same-type card in play. FFXIV pool only; excludes Ascension & Elemental.
- Elemental
- random cells are marked with an element; a card there gets +1 to all sides if its element matches, −1 if not. Same/Plus still use the printed numbers. FF8 pool only.
- All Open
- see the opponent's whole hand. (Pairs with Three Open — pick one.)
- Three Open
- see three of the opponent's cards. (Pairs with All Open — pick one.)
- Order
- you must play your hand left–to–right. (Pairs with Chaos — pick one.)
- Chaos
- the game picks which card you play each turn. (Pairs with Order — pick one.)
- Swap
- one random card is traded between hands before play.
- Sudden Death
- a draw replays with the cards each side controlled.
